“Let Love be Genuine. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” – Romans 12:9
Our Vision
Recovery exists in in the love of Trinity — a love that is genuinely shown to one another though unity, service and a life together that deepens through spiritual formation.
We invite all who are seeking a deeper connection with God to come to our table of grace. We wait with open hands and open hearts for the person who is still suffering. We promise to tell God’s truth as we risk telling our personal stories through vulnerable acts of courage. We believe by faith that God meets us where we are, but God loves us too much to leave us suffering in brokenness. We believe recovery is possible for all people.
In 2001, I got sober in AA by working the 12 Steps. My spiritual experience has been one of variety including: "Higher Power of my own understanding," Native American Spirituality, Buddhism that lead me to return to the teachings of Jesus in 2010 when facing the emotional crisis of a divorce. Deeply excited about Christian theology, I studied religion (completing an undergrad in 2015) and went on to study at Duke for a brief time, but dropped out after my Mom died in 2016.
I was an active member of AA for 12 years when I felt called to share my experience, strength and hope in Celebrate Recovery. For six years I participated and lead CR at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church.
In the summer of 2017, after finishing up a 4th Step, I got a feeling that I was to establish a "recovery church" in Wilmington. I have been writing, meditating and praying on this vision for over two years and have now taken formal steps to seek official support from the United Methodist Church.
I presently work as a disability advocate for the homeless under a grant from New Hanover Regional Medical Center, am the part-time Volunteer Director of Hope Recuperative Care, a home-like environment that welcomes homeless hospital patients to rest and recover who have no where to go following an illness or injury and am a volunteer Associate Minister at The Anchor Church.
